SOLAS - VGM - e-Port weighting
The SOLAS Convention (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea) is an international regulation aimed at protecting safety at sea, which is also binding in relations between private individuals. This regulation requires prior verification of the gross weight (Verified Gross Mass - VGM) of each container intended for international traffic, before it is loaded onto the ship.
Using our newly installed certified weighing machine and ad hoc software, Biava is able to provide this service.
The company is also accredited as a weighing node on the e-Port system of the Ligurian Sea Port Authority and is therefore authorised to enter VGM directly.
